Children are a true blessing. I get to live life again through Nem and Bun’s eyes. They teach me to enjoy the little things, to feel the joy that sparks around me, and to learn to be patient and forgiving, everyday. To be a kid at heart, to be their friends, is to have this great sense of curiosity, easy joy, wonder, and trust.
I really like this definition: “Being a grownup person and being a child are two extremes, but when combined, you get a happy medium, a gray area called being an adult, but still a kid at heart!“. I hope my children grow up to be responsible adults and still kids at heart, knowing how to appreciate and enjoy things that come their way. I hope they remember to:
Enjoy their favorite food as if they taste it for the first time and feel in love instantly (how Haruki felt for sweet potato!)
Laugh freely, even at silly jokes. Mostly their dad’s jokes :))
Enjoy the rain even when they don’t have an umbrella.
Be gentle to plants and smell the flowers in the house and in nature.
Jump on the bed pretending it’s a trampoline. Oh the joy and laughter they share doing this!
Believe everything is possible. Dream big kids, the sky is the limit.
Appreciate the little things, even simple things people give them.
Live their life with curiosity and creativity.
Without Haruki and Aurora, I probably have continued living like an adult and forget all about the little joys in life, and how to live the simple life as a child. So thank you kiddos for giving Mommy that chance!
