Goodbye summer

I finally did it – the eye surgery of my dream to say goodbye to wearing glasses. I think I started from primary school grade 4, and have been living together with glasses since then. My eyes are sooo near-sighted that I only take off my glasses during shower and before bedtime. No longer having to wear glass is life changing. Say hello to countless earrings and fancier hairstyles moving forward!

September weather is getting easier to breathe, with lower humidity and more windy. We started out the month by a train trip to Hai Phong for a food tour – Haruki’s first train ride. He absolutely loved it, plus all the good food we got to eat in the city. Still dreaming of living in Hai Phong to escape the crowdedness and the pollution, but it’s hard to move away from the kid’s grandparents. Then, off to Da Nang so Jon can come to Nick’s 40th birthday celebration in Hoi An. This is way more of a…memorable trip😆 Dad was sick with high fever the whole time, I broke the bathroom glass door and hurt my foot, and Jon severely hurt this foot from missing a step on the stairs and tripping. Thankfully, Mom was there to take care of us all 💝The kids still got to enjoy the beach, and we got to eat some top-notch seafood. We will be back, Da Nang (& Hoi An)!

Bun & Nem also experienced their first Full Moon Festival – Tet Trung Thu at home. So many toys brought by Ba, and many lion dances watched. It’s a pity kids no longer do the parade with lanterns in their hands anymore. This used to be my most fond memory growing up. I would finish dinner in a flash so I could join my neighborhood friends. We lit up our lanterns, many homemade from cheap materials, and paraded through alleys together till late. Luckily Nem still got to do many fun activities to celebrate at schools with his friends.

Counting down to his 3rd birthday earlier next month, then our Japan trip! Before we know it, the holiday season will have already arrived☃️🎄Can’t wait to enjoy them all with the babies!
